At Be the Change in Mental Health, we understand that navigating the complex world of mental health can be a challenging journey. We believe that knowledge is power, and that is why we have created this frequently asked questions page - to provide you with answers to some of the most common questions and concerns related to mental health.
- What exactly does Be the Change in Mental Health do/offer?
- How are the services at BTC different from other clinics?
- Who should do this? Are any of these programs for me?
- Do you offer other therapies paired with MDMA or psilocybin?
Q. What exactly does Be the Change in Mental Health do/offer?
The day-to-day operations of Be the Change in Mental Health (BTC) is to deliver psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. We also offer NeuroStar® Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a treatment for those who want a non-medication option to address their condition.
Both modalities are meant to heal and improve mental health. We will evaluate each candidate based on their history and current condition(s) to advise an individualized course of treatment.
Q. How are the services at BTC different from other clinics?
We are different in many ways. Unlike many "ketamine clinics," our focus is on the therapy, using the medication as an adjunct. Do not come to us with an intention to just get medicated.
The services we offer are just the beginning of a growing menu of options to achieve mental wellness.
Our ultimate goal is to redefine the service of mental health treatment from that of ongoing pharmacologic drug use and therapy sessions to that of results-driven packages that are incentivized by measurable healing.
The challenge is in the work that must be done by the individual patient. The patient must be willing to engage with the work, face their conditions, and commit to the process. There can be no guarantees, but full commitment to positive intention will inevitably produce results.
Q. Who should do this? Are any of these programs for me?
A physical exam will be conducted to confirm that you can safely experience the course of treatment.
If you suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other types of trauma, we will develop a treatment plan for you, whether it be with Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) or TMS.
If you are not clinically depressed, but want to be more mentally healthy, you too may benefit from KAP!
Q. Do you offer other therapies paired with MDMA or psilocybin?
We are excited to be able to offer you Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy. At this time, we cannot offer other psychedelic medicines. Ketamine is the only psychedelic federally legal for therapeutic use, unlike psilocybin, MDMA, or LSD. We will expect to integrate other kinds of psychedelic therapies as they become legal.
Q. Does insurance cover my treatments?
We do not bill any insurance providers directly. Our patients pay out of pocket for all services but can request the supporting paperwork from our administrative team to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy is not covered by any insurance company at this point. That said, patients may be able to get partial reimbursement from their insurance companies for the physical examination by the doctor and the therapy visits.
We are currently working on getting credentialed to accept insurance for Neurostar treatments. Contact us for questions about insurance coverage.
